Bill Cosby appeals his sentence

Camille Cosby is speaking out about husband Bill Cosby’s appeal, saying she’s “very, very pleased” his 2018 conviction could be overturned. In an interview with ABC News, Camille doubled down on comparing the “unproven” sexual assault claims against the comedian to the brutal 1955 murder of Emmett Till. She also suggested the #MeToo movement is racist.

On Tuesday, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled it will hear parts of Bill’s appeal. The 82-year-old actor has been behind bars for nearly two years for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004. He was sentenced to three to 10 years in state prison.

“My first reaction is hopefulness, possibilities,” Camille told ABC’s Linsey Davis. “The state’s highest court ... has said, ‘Wait a minute. There are some problems here. They can be considered for an appeal.’”

Camille and Bill Cosby have been married for over 50 years, and she has stayed by his side throughout his #MeToo controversy. Dozens of women came forward and said they were sexually assaulted and/or drugged by the entertainer. The Cosby Show star was canceled before cancel culture was a thing — and Camille is unconcerned that many people view her to be on the wrong side of history.

“First of all, I don’t care what they feel,” she said.

“The #MeToo movement and movements like them have intentional ignorance pertaining to the history of particular white women — not all white women — but particular white women, who have from the very beginning, pertaining to the enslavement of African people, accused Black males of sexual assault without any proof whatsoever, no proof, anywhere on the face of the earth,” Camille added.

“And by ignoring that history, they have put out a lie in itself and that is, ‘Because I’m female, I’m telling the truth.’ Well, history disproves that, as well, and gender has never, ever equated with truth. So, they need to clean up their acts. And it’s all of us as women who have not participated in anything nefarious — we know how women can lie,” she continued. “We know how they can do the same things that men do — that some men do — because there are good men and bad men. There are good women and bad women.”

Camille defended comparing Bill’s situation to the horrific lynching of 14-year-old Emmett Till. The teen was murdered in Mississippi for allegedly making advances at a white woman, a claim the woman admitted was false years later.

“The parallel is that the same age-old thing about particular white women making accusations against Black men that are unproven — Emmett Till’s outcome, to mutilate his body in the way that it was, was just really so deeply horrendous,” Camille said. “I mean — there’s a lack of words for that kind of hatefulness.”

“So you boil this all down to racism?” Davis asked Camille. “You feel that if your husband were not a Black man that these accusations would not have been made and he would not be in prison?”

“I don’t know that,” Camille replied, “because some white men have ... there are some who have been sent to prison. But ... it’s not the same situation as the history [of] particular white women with Black men.”

“We’ve seen them hanging from trees,” Camille said of the Black men, “once they make those accusations. We’ve seen them being incarcerated ... those accusations are made and — once again — unproven. Unproven.”

Camille noted that she speaks to Bill daily but won’t visit him.

“In terms of visiting him, no, I do not want to see my husband in that kind of an environment — and he doesn’t want me to see him in that kind of environment,” she said. “So we are in sync with that, but I speak to him every single day.”

Camille added that Bill does not have COVID-19 and is “doing fine.”

The SPLC eats its own

The Southern Poverty Law Center has fired co-founder Morris Dees, the group announced Thursday.

“As a civil rights organization, the SPLC is committed to ensuring that the conduct of our staff reflects the mission of the organization and the values we hope to instill in the world,” SPLC president Richard Cohen said in a statement. “When one of our own fails to meet those standards, no matter his or her role in the organization, we take it seriously and must take appropriate action.”

Dees, 82, co-founded the SPLC in 1971 and was its chief litigator.

The Montgomery Advertiser, reporting on the Alabama-based organization in 1994, flagged concerns about its practices in an eight-part series that later earned a Pulitzer nomination.

The SPLC tracks hate groups in the U.S. and works to prevent discrimination against minorities, but the Advertiser‘s series aired allegations of discrimination against black employees, who “accused . . . Dees, the center’s driving force, of being a racist.”
Dees was also criticized in the Advertiser‘s reports of being “more focused on raising money than fighting injustice” even though he was also “a figure seen as heroic by some.” The organization had $450 million in assets in 2017, according to tax records.
By Thursday the group had removed Dees’s biography from their website, but his name and a description of his role remain in the summary of the organization’s history.

The group promised to take “a number of immediate, concrete next steps,” including having a third party conduct a “comprehensive assessment of our internal climate and workplace practices.” It did not specify what Dees had done to prompt his firing.

Azealia Banks Accuses Russell Crowe of Assault After They Reportedly Clashed at Hotel Party

Azealia Banks is at war with another celebrity.

The "212" rapper is alleging that Russell Crowe assaulted her after the Nice Guys actor removed her from a private event at his Beverly Hills hotel room on Saturday night.
Banks, who attended the party as RZA's plus one, claims in a since-deleted Facebook message, "To recap my night, I went to a [party] at Russell crowes suite, at which he called me a n***er, choked me, threw me out and spat at me."

"Last night was one of the hardest nights of sleep I've had in a long time," the 25-year-old added. "The men in the room allowed it to happen. I feel terrible today."

ET spoke with Beverly Hills Police Department Sgt. George DeMarios following the incident, who confirmed, "Azealia Banks did file a report against Russell Crowe with the BHPD on Sunday afternoon. Detectives are investigating the matter."

According to a TMZ report, several eyewitnesses allege that Banks was using vulgar profanities and threatening guests before Crowe carried her out after she grabbed her glass and appeared to cock it back.

"You would love it if I broke my glass, stabbed you guys in the throat, and blood would squirt everywhere like some real Tarantino s**t," Banks allegedly said.

According to TMZ, one of the guests alleged that it was Banks who actually used the N-word -- and not Crowe -- during the altercation is RZA himself.

Following the alleged altercation, Banks' rep shared a statement to Twitter, writing, "Azealia is tremendously distraught and disheartened. She is shell shocked and will speak out on the incident once she has had time to process the brutality and abuse she was unjustly subjected to."

This is not the first time Banks has found herself at odds with another public figure.

Earlier this year, the rapper got into a heated online feud with Sarah Palin.

Exclusive: Law Enforcement Agencies On Alert For ‘Black Lives Matter’ Attacks On 9/11Law enforcement agencies are on high alert this week due to violent threats coming from the Black Lives Matter movement.

According to several Be On Look Out (BOLO) alerts sent from several law enforcement agencies and exclusively obtained by The Daily Caller, some members of the “#blacklivesmatter and #fyf911 are calling for the murder of more police officers on a site called blog radio.”

One caller on the show says, “When those mother f**kers are by themselves, that’s when when we should start f***ing them up. Like they do us, when a bunch of them ni**ers takin’ one of us out, that’s how we should roll up.” That caller goes on, “Cause we already roll up in gangs anyway. There should be six or seven black mother f**ckers, see that white person, and then lynch their ass. Let’s turn the tables.”

One BOLO says, “The narrator known as ‘King Noble’ on Facebook states: ‘It’s open season on killing whites and police officers and probably killing cops period. It’s open season. Picking them off. Today we live in a time when the white man will be picked off,” he goes on to claim “the predators are now the prey.’”

The BOLOs states further that the “#fyf911 (Fuk Yo Flag)” website calls for burning the American flag on 9/11 and “and physically breaking free of the imperialist, colonialist, and racist empires.”

Additionally, according to the BOLO’s description of the website, the plan also includes burning Confederate flags, police uniforms, and “ALL representations of organized evil and oppressive nations.”

The website says, “We also will be raising the Liberation flag and building on a new nation for the people. This is an INTERNATIONAL movement and a day of unity, progressive action, and liberation. To all OPPRESSIVE AND ORGANIZED EVIL after #FYF911 the people will not be bound to you any longer!”

The BOLOs also warns officers about a particular radio show. “A secondary organizer of the movement known as “Sunshine” has also indicated the same acts of violence (lynching and hanging) against white people and cops on her talk show radio, ‘Sunshine’s F***ing Opinion Radio Show.’”

Another BOLO shows a picture associated with the #FYF911 movement and “depicts a police officer hanging from a tree and Uncle Sam in a military uniform with a branch of the tree up his posterior end.”

The BOLO concludes, “states should heighten security measures to protect against possible protests and violence. Law enforcement and military personnel should be extremely vigilant and take extra safety precautions on 9/11.”
