MP Dominic Raab says men victims of discrimination

A Tory MP has defended comments he made accusing feminists of "obnoxious bigotry" and adding that men were the victims of "flagrant discrimination".

Dominic Raab said men had a raw deal in the workplace, working longer and being at greater risk at losing their jobs.

He told the BBC it was sexist to claim men had caused the recession and "equality had to cut both ways".

Labour said the comments showed the Tories were out of touch and progress in equality was under threat.

The MP's remarks came amid a row over sexism in football and the media after two leading Sky Sports presenters were disciplined for making derogatory comments about a female assistant referee.

In an article for the Politics Home website, Mr Raab said that despite the UK having "some of the toughest anti-discrimination laws in the world", society was often "blind to flagrant discrimination against men".

'Gender warfare'

Citing what he said were "trite generalisations" about male bankers causing the 2008 financial crisis and the subsequent recession, he added: "Feminists are now amongst the most obnoxious bigots."

Standing by the comments, he told BBC Radio 4's PM programme that he was opposed to discrimination of all kinds including what he said was "pretty obvious" bias against men.

“I think blaming the recession on men is an obviously sexist comment”
Dominic Raab

Conservative MP
"You cannot have a situation where, rightly, Sky Sports presenters are being picked up for sexist comments they make about women knowing the offside laws and on the other hand say that when there are blatantly sexist comments in the media regularly and no-one blinks - that is wrong."

"If you believe in equality, it cuts both ways."

Citing comments by Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman in 2009, in which she suggested the scale of the financial turmoil may have been reduced if failed investment bank Lehman Brothers had been run by women, he said "subtle" discrimination against men often went unchallenged.

"I think blaming the recession on men is an obviously sexist comment. We should be as tough on all forms of sexism and, frankly, try and get away from gender warfare and the politics of difference."

Retirement age

Mr Raab - MP for Esher - said huge progress had been made in reducing the gender pay gap in the past 40 years and remaining inequalities were less a product of "endemic sexism" than the challenges facing working mothers and couples trying to juggle work and family responsibilities.

Workplace discrimination could only be fully tackled by looking at working conditions "in the round", he added.

"Men work longer hours, they die earlier but they retire later than women. That is not a problem we are going to fix for seven years. How can that possibly be justified?

"The fact is that men working longer hours, enjoy their jobs less - according to the surveys - commute from further afield and are more likely to face redundancy."

Kate Green, chair of the Women's Parliamentary Labour Party, condemned the remarks.

"This is exactly the kind of attitude that shows the Tories are out of touch on issues of importance to people across the UK and are not a family friendly party.

"The equality and diversity agenda put in place by Labour has been hugely important in levelling the playing field for millions of people in the work place and we need to ensure we continue to build on its success."

Equality campaigners say women will bear the brunt of the £81bn in government spending cuts planned over the next four years but failed in a recent legal challenge to last year's Budget.

NCFM’s huge landmark sex discrimination case now final
January 25, 2011
By NCFM

The Daily Journal, California’s leading daily newspaper, recently published in Verdicts and Settlements the verdict obtained by several NCFM members and their NCFM attorney for a recurring Ladies Night at the Century Supper Club in Los Angeles where men were charged up to $20 for entry while women were allowed to enter for free.

This trial court verdict follow these same NCFM members victory at the California Supreme Court case of Marc Angelucci v. Century Supper Club, wherein the Court ruled that men do not have to affirmatively assert their right to equal treatment to the offending business in order to have standing to file a sex discrimination claim. The Justices commented that the Supper Club’s behavior was “startling” and “absurd”.

The NCFM members are Marc Angelucci, NCFM Vice President, and Elton Campbell who were represented by NCFM Board Secretary and attorney Al Rava. The Plaintiffs were awarded substantial judgments which need to be collected. The Century Supper Club is out of business.

This is a huge landmark victory because it firmly establishes that men are entitled the same rights as women and they don’t have to lower themselves by ask for equal treatment. This would be akin to a Woman/Black/ Homosexual having to ask for equal treatment at a Men/Caucasian/Heterosexual Night promotion in order to sue for discrimination

President NCFM

This is indeed great news but we have a lot more to do to achieve our goals.

The fraud of feminism

If one were to take an objective look at history one would find that women were never oppressed in the western world and in the non-western world their yoke is lighter than males. But for this post we will stick with women in the western world. In the 19Th century women were given leeway that men never got (i.e. if they committed a crime a male relative: husband or if the woman were unmarried her father would take her place or another male relative would). It is misrepresentations of the past that feminists groups in the 20th century and today use to further their agenda, whether it is monetary or legislative gain. Feminists have used what they knew to be fraudulent methods to achieve these aims. They have deliberately lied to congress, while under oath, to gain money, usually by a democratically controlled congress. They've lied to get legislation passed, everything from rape shield laws which denies the accused man a fair trial to domestic violence legislation which ignores male victims and female batterers to VAWA that will take even more rights away from men. Feminist groups have made sure that they were the lone voice on gender issues for many years and thanks to the net that is changing. Feminists have tried to make themselves into "gender advisers" but when you get right down to it it is the same feminist monster under a different mask. These "gender advisers" went on to advise those in power to make laws they like (something MRA's must do now as well) while avoiding the word "feminist". Since feminists have lied to congressional leaders feminists leaders, past and present, should be arrested and brought up on fraud and perjury charges and have the full weight of the law thrown at them. They squandered tax payer money on things they knew to be scams and they wasted congressional leaders time which could have been put to more productive use. When these things occur then we will have gender justice.

Barbour releases two female felons

Jaime Scott and Gladys Scott

Govenor Haley Barbour

Sister's kidney donation condition of Miss. parole

JACKSON, Miss. – For 16 years, sisters Jamie and Gladys Scott have shared a life behind bars for their part in an $11 armed robbery. To share freedom, they must also share a kidney.

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour suspended the sisters' life sentences on Wednesday, but 36-year-old Gladys Scott's release is contingent on her giving a kidney to Jamie, her 38-year-old sister, who requires daily dialysis.

The sisters were convicted in 1994 of leading two men into an ambush in central Mississippi the year before. Three teenagers hit each man in the head with a shotgun and took their wallets — making off with only $11, court records said.

Jamie and Gladys Scott were each convicted of two counts of armed robbery and sentenced to two life sentences.

"I think it's a victory," said the sisters' attorney, Chokwe Lumumba. "I talked to Gladys and she's elated about the news. I'm sure Jamie is, too."

National NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous thanked Barbour in a news conference Thursday at Mississippi's capital, calling the suspension of the sentences "a shining example" of the way a governor should use the power of clemency.

Civil rights advocates have for years called for the sisters' release, saying the sentences were excessive. Those demands gained traction when Barbour asked the Mississippi Parole Board to take another look at the case.

The Scott sisters are eligible for parole in 2014, but Barbour said prison officials no longer think they are a threat to society and Jamie's medical condition is costing the state a lot of money — approximately $200,000 a year, according to Mississippi Department of Corrections Spokesman Kent Croker.

Lumumba said he has no problem with the governor requiring Gladys to offer up her organ because "Gladys actually volunteered that as part of her petition."

Lumumba said it's not clear what caused the kidney failure, but it's likely a combination of different illnesses over the years.

Barbour spokesman Dan Turner told The Associated Press that Jamie Scott was released because she needs the transplant. He said Gladys Scott will be released if she agrees to donate her kidney because of the significant risk and recovery time.

"She wanted to do it," Turner said. "That wasn't something we introduced."

Barbour is a Republican in his second term who has been mentioned as a possible presidential contender in 2012. He said the parole board agreed with the indefinite suspension of their sentences, which is different from a pardon or commutation because it comes with conditions.

An "indefinite suspension of sentence" can be reversed if the conditions are not followed, but those requirements are usually things like meeting with a parole officer.

The Scott sisters have received significant public support from advocacy groups, including the NAACP, which called for their release. Hundreds of people marched through downtown Jackson from the state capital to the governor's mansion in September, chanting in unison that the women should be freed.

Still, their release won't be immediate.

Mississippi Department of Corrections Commissioner Chris Epps said late Wednesday that he had not received the order. He also said the women want to live with relatives in Florida, which requires approval from officials in that state.

In general, that process takes 45 days.

Mississippi NAACP President Derrick Johnson said the Scott sisters' release will be "a great victory for the state of Mississippi for two individuals who received an excessive sentence" and he has no problem with the kidney donation requirement because Gladys Scott volunteered.

"I think it's encouraging that she's willing to share a kidney so her sister can have a better quality life," Johnson said.

If this were two men convicted of aggravated robbery would the Governor help get them released. Probably not. The thing is their crimes could have ended with a man losing his life. Perhaps Borbour is appealing to right wing feminists by doing this. And the black civil rights groups, how many would have stood up for two men violently robbing women? Very few if any. More hypocrisy. This may fry his presidential bid,we'll see.

Evil prosecutor

Jessica Cooper

Jessica Cooper is the Oakland County District Attorney and she is up for re-election. What makes Cooper unique? She is prosecuting a man for reading his wife's emails. He did this and not only learned that she was cheating on him also that a child was in harm's way and he did what he could to protect that child. Cooper is charging this man with a felony and asking for 5 years in prison. We hear about how women read their husband's/boyfriend's emails all the time and nothing happens. Would Cooper prosecute if the genders were reversed? The only thing that matters to Cooper and her ilk is winning. This is something to remember in the voting booth. Vote for the other candidate, dump Cooper.

Hillary's world plans

Washington (CNN) -- Toward the end of U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's surprise appearance at the TED Women conference Wednesday, she told the story of a girl and her father in a developing country.

"This teenage girl's father expected to force her into early marriage, but she had been to school and she received a cow, perhaps through the Heifer project, to encourage her to stay in school. When her father demanded she drop out of school and get married, she said no. When he insisted, she insisted right back.

"And finally she pulled out her trump card: 'If I leave and get married, I'm taking my cow, that cow belongs to me.' So guess what. She stayed in school, she was spared an early marriage, all because her father couldn't bear to part with the cow."

Clinton devoted her talk to the importance of empowering women and girls around the world, and the audience of 700 at the International Trade Center responded enthusiastically.

Give women equal rights and entire nations are more stable and secure.

"Let women work and they drive economic growth across all sectors. Send a girl to school even just for one year and her income dramatically increases for life, and her children are more likely to survive and her family more likely to be healthier for years to come. Give women equal rights and entire nations are more stable and secure. Deny women equal rights and the instability of nations is almost certain."

Clinton said the goal of empowering women and girls is a "central tenet" of American foreign policy. "Women's equality is not just a moral issue, it's not just a humanitarian issue, it is not just a fairness issue," she said, "It is a security issue, it is a prosperity issue, and it is a peace issue.

"Therefore when I talk about why we need to integrate women's issues into discussions at the highest levels everywhere in the world, I'm not doing it just because I have a personal commitment or because President Obama cares about it. I'm doing it because it's in the vital interests of the United States of America."

Clinton said the status of women will be a key part of a new document the State Department is planning to release this week. Modeled on the Defense Department's review every four years of U.S. defenses, the "quadrennial diplomacy and development review" will assess American foreign policy.

Clinton spoke of an array of initiatives and programs the State Department is using, many involving technology that can empower women. Among them is a program in the wartorn Democratic Republic of Congo that enables women who are the victims of violence to record and transmit their testimony in criminal cases through the use of mobile phones.

Clinton's talk did not mention the ongoing worldwide controversy over the release of thousands of U.S. diplomatic cables by WikiLeaks. She did pay tribute to Elizabeth Edwards, who died the day before her talk.

"She lived with a fierce intelligence, a passion, a sense of purpose," Clinton said. "She would have appreciated this event, where we are coming together to look for solutions."

The TED Women conference was a new event organized by TED, a nonprofit that runs conferences and makes talks available on its website, and by the Paley Center for Media.

Clinton said the effort to empower women and girls faces cultural barriers: "The low value that many families and societies place on girls makes possible many of the worst abuses they suffer. But even among girls who are spared the worst, too often it is a girl who is still the first to drop out of school, the last to be fed, the last to receive medical care. And in too many places, she is taught there are special limits to what is possible for her.

"We need to reach out to faith leaders and community leaders to change the perception and treatment of girls, and to persuade men and boys to value their sisters and their daughters, their talents and their intrinsic worth."

Hillary doesn't have a personal commitment to this? Bullshit. She is a feminazi from way back when. As first lady and senator Hillary made sure men got fucked especially a father's rights group that Hillary wouldn't meet with even though she was supposed to represent all the people of New York. This is the kind of thing Hillary salivates over.
