Would-be protesters heading to the Women’s March on Washington have said they were denied entry to the United States after telling border agents at a land crossing in Quebec their plans to attend the march.

Montrealer Sasha Dyck was part of a group of eight who had arranged online to travel together to Washington. Divided into two cars, the group – six Canadians and two French nationals – arrived at the border crossing that connects St Bernard de Lacolle in Quebec with Champlain, New York, on Thursday.

The group was upfront about their plans with border agents, Dyck said. “We said we were going to the women’s march on Saturday and they said, ‘Well, you’re going to have to pull over’.”

What followed was a two-hour ordeal. Their cars were searched and their mobile phones examined. Each member of the group was fingerprinted and had their photo taken.

Border agents first told the two French citizens that they had been denied entry to the US and informed them that any future visit to the US would now require a visa.

“Then for the rest of us, they said, ‘You’re headed home today’,” Dyck said. The group was also warned that if they tried to cross the border again during the weekend, they would be arrested. “And that was it, they didn’t give a lot of justification.”

Dyck described it as a sharp contrast to 2009, when the research nurse made the same journey to attend Barack Obama’s inauguration. “I couldn’t even get in for this one, whereas at the other one, the guy at the border literally gave me a high five when I came in and everybody was just like, ‘welcome’. The whole city was partying; nobody was there to protest Obama the first time.”

UK national Joe Kroese said he, a Canadian and two Americans were held at the same border crossing for three hours on Thursday.

The group had travelled from Montreal, where 23-year-old Kroese is studying, and had explained to border agents that they were considering attending the Women’s March but had yet to finalise their plans.

After being questioned, fingerprinted and photographed, Kroese and his Canadian companion were refused entry because they were planning to attend what the border agent called a “potentially violent rally”, he said. The pair was advised not to travel to the United States for a few months, and Kroese was told he would now need a visa to enter the US.

After an attempted crossing late Thursday, Montreal resident Joseph Decunha said he was also turned away. He and the two Americans he was with told the border agent that they were planning to attend the inauguration and the women’s march.

The group was brought in for secondary processing, where the border agent asked about their political views, Decunha told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. “The first thing he asked us point blank is, ‘Are you anti- or pro-Trump?’”

After being fingerprinted and photographed he was told that his two friends could enter the US, but that he could not. “They told me I was being denied entry for administrative reasons. According to the agent, my travelling to the United States for the purpose of protesting didn’t constitute a valid reason to cross,” Decunha said.

He described the experience – particularly the questions he fielded about his political beliefs – as concerning. “It felt like, if we had been pro-Trump, we would have absolutely been allowed entry.”

US Customs and Border Protection said it could not discuss individual cases, citing privacy reasons. “We recognize that there is an important balance to strike between securing our borders while facilitating the high volume of legitimate trade and travel that crosses our borders every day, and we strive to achieve that balance and show the world that the United States is a welcoming nation,” it said in an email to the Guardian.

On a daily basis, more than 1 million individuals are admitted into the United States at its air, land and sea ports, the agency noted. An average of 600 people a day – less than a tenth of 1% of those admitted – are denied entry for a varied list of reasons that include prohibited activities or intent as well as national security concerns.

Canada becomes even more pussywhipped than it already is

Just when you thought Canada couldn't get even more pussy whipped than it already is they manage to go over the top. Freedoms are dead in Canada. A lot of people have compared the United States to Canada and said there is little difference between the two countries. I hope this video dispels that notion and brings to light the sharp contrasts between the two countries. If the so-called "conservatives" are on board with this legislation then the average conservative Canadian is fucked. A lot of Canadians don't care about this. They don't care about their rights. Although I sure they are a small number of Canadians who do care they will probably flow to the United States as refugees to avoid Trudeau's iron fisted laws. Before I conclude I would like to touch on something Lucian said and that is since it is illegal to oppress gender expression does that mean that I can act masculine and if feminists oppress my expressing myself do they go to jail for oppressing me and the way I express myself? Not likely. More feminist/liberal hypocrisy.

A Canadian man, Gregory Elliott, faces six months in jail for having a disagreement with feminists on Twitter. He has been charged with criminal harassment.

The case involves two feminists (originally it was three) who claim they were harassed in 2012 by Elliott on Twitter. They are currently in court in Toronto. One of the complainants, Stephanie Guthrie, met with Elliott three years ago to interview him about working for her organization "Women in TO politics." But according to The Toronto Star, Guthrie was "creeped out" by the man and said he was "really intense" and so she decided not to hire him.

Court documents show that the two remained cordial through e-mail correspondence after their meeting and also continued their casual relationship via social media for almost 10 months. But things took a turn when Guthrie went after an online video game that allowed players to virtually punch the face of a feminist blogger. She joined other feminists who made it clear they wanted to publicly shame the game's creator. Guthrie had written on Twitter: “I want his hatred on the Internet to impact his real-life experience."

Seeing this message, Elliott reacted creating the hashtag #FascistFeminists and attacked their viewpoints, without once being threatening or violent. Yet, he was arrested in November of 2012, fired from his job, and now faces jail time.

In court this last week, Guthrie rolled her eyes during cross-examination by Elliott's attorney who asked about her "left-leaning politics." He then asked, "Why would you roll your eyes at a trial where my client faces serious charges of criminal harassment?" She said she didn't see the relevancy of such a question.

Sign the petition to declare feminism a hate movement

Men’s Rights Edmonton has arranged a lecture event to be held on July 29th at 7pm at the Edmonton Public Library (Stanley A. Milner branch) with Dr. James Brown, author of Rescuing our Underachieving Sons.

The Stanley A. Milner Library is located downtown at 7 Sir Winston Churchill Square.

Dr. Brown, a career educator with a doctorate in education and post doctoral diplomas in Educational Administration and in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership, will be discussing the challenge of improving boys’ education.

Due to opposition by local feminists, promoting the event has been a challenge.

According to Eric Duckman, posters advertising the event have been vandalized with paint or torn down almost instantly after being put up.

This leads to the question, why would feminists be so opposed to a lecture by a highly respected and credentialed educator on improving boys’ performance in school?

There may be an opportunity to get an answer to that question at the event, as a counter-event has been organized to take place at the site. The event, titled “Feministing at ‘Rescuing Our Underachieving Sons’” is described by its organizer Brittany Kustra as a chance to confront attending men’s rights activists over their “Don’t be that girl” poster campaign, and to “see who is behind the group.”

In other words, she plans to protest a scheduled lecture on an unquestionably positive topic with demands to discuss another, unrelated topic, and she will be mining for group member identities.

MREdmonton and AVoiceforMen invited live debate on blog talk radio following news coverage of the posters, and feminists everywhere, including the most vehement critics of the campaign, lined up to not take them up on it. In light of that, it’s odd that Brittany should think it necessary to disrupt an unrelated event to revisit the controversy.

Rather than take the offered chance to have all of their questions answered, this feminist group has decided to disrupt an event held for the benefit of boys who are underserved by their education system. One cannot reasonably argue that after disregarding such an open opportunity, the goal of feminists planning to converge on Dr. Brown’s lecture is merely to ask questions. Without that as a possible motive for the protest, that leaves their other goal of identity mining.

However, a group with that goal in mind would have been more sneaky than to alert the very people they seek to identify. The Facebook event page for Feministing at “Rescuing Our Underachieving Sons” is public, and they’ve made sure that the MREdmonton group would be aware ahead of time that they were planning to crash the lecture. That seems counterproductive, unless there is a different goal.

Could it be that Brittany and her friends just absolutely hate little boys, and want to deny them any effort that might be made to improve their circumstance within the education system, or are they maybe planning to hijack Dr. Brown’s lecture and distract from its intended purpose just to draw attention to themselves?

Earl Silverman had his demons, and his pain must be taken seriously. But feminism isn't responsible for his death

He was a hero of the Men’s Rights movement. Three years ago, Earl Silverman, a self-described long-term survivor of violence at the hands of an abusive wife, turned his own home into the Men’s Alternative Safe House, Canada’s first domestic abuse shelter for men and their children. On Friday, he was found hanging in its garage, an apparent suicide.

Silverman had been going through a period of intense personal stress lately – his death came just one day after he packed up his recently sold home. Just last month, he’d closed the shelter because he could no longer afford to maintain it. He had said he was struggling to keep up with his heat and grocery bills.

In his dogged efforts to help men and to raise public awareness, Silverman worked to remove the stigma that can often prevent men from speaking out because of pride and fear and misunderstanding. Yet where Silverman came up short was in perpetuating the Men’s Rights movement’s fiction that there’s any gender equity as far as violence and victims. The Calgary Herald recalled, in its coverage of his death, Silverman’s oft-repeated insistence that “men are about as likely as women to say they have been the victims of domestic abuse.”

Despite the jokey, knee-jerk assumption that male abuse either isn’t real or is only reserved for the henpecked and weak, there is no question that female abusers exist. There are male victims. Whether we’re talking about violence or sexual abuse, we need to understand that, and to treat men who have been the victims of abuse with respect and compassion.

Yet the truth isn’t as tit-for-tat as Silverman made it out to be. The American Bar Association, for example, notes that the statistics bear out that “nearly 25 percent of women and 7.6 percent of men” have been raped and/or physically assaulted by a partner. Partner violence makes up roughly 20 percent of the violent crime against women, and 3 percent of it against men.” These statistics don’t distinguish partner gender. The ABA notes that “Most perpetrators of sexual violence are men” and that “Sexual violence against men is also mainly male violence.” But tell that to Silverman’s MRA fans, who are currently lamenting that he was a victim of “misandrist bullshit” and that “the vaginocracy has blood on its claws over this.”

But feminism wasn’t the cause of Silverman’s death. Instead, his story seems to be that of a man whose demons had long plagued him. Last month, as he prepared to shutter his shelter, he said that when he’d left his marriage two decades earlier, he was frustrated not merely by the lack of services for men, but the default narrative of male-as-abuser. “When I went into the community looking for some support services, I couldn’t find any,” he said. “There were a lot for women, and the only programs for men were for anger management. As a victim, I was re-victimized by having these services telling me that I wasn’t a victim, but I was a perpetrator … I basically tried to commit suicide,” he said, “because I couldn’t do anything.”

Governement funded feminism is poisoning the social/sexual fabric of Canada. Those who disagree with the many common erroneous feminist ideals can often be dismissed or marginalized from their employment. Men and boys often receive undeserved public and legal humiliation and hatred.

BILLIONS of tax payer funding for female only social programs, employment initiatives, health concerns, etc. etc. etc. totally contradicts the equality that feminists and supporters allegedly seek. Previous to feminism an enormity of any government sponsored programs designed for men only barely, if ever, existed at all.

Earl gets his day in court

Canadian MRA Earl Silverman gets his day in court. Let's wish him the best of luck.

Well it is now set; I get a judge and jury. This means I can call anyone to the court room as a witness.

As Stephen Harper has provided me with a letter of support for my work in domestic violence I will be calling him. This court case will cover shared parenting, domestic violence and divorce issues; this is the objective.
