Celebrate and promote false allegations awareness month

From SAVE Services:

As you make your summer plans, consider attending SAVE's annual conference in Washington, DC. on June 21 and 22.

Join us as we celebrate the progress we have made over the last year. For instance...

Think back to the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) re-authorization. Do you remember the controversy? For the first time ever, there was real discussion about it's shortfalls.

Together, we did that. Our voices were heard. Now, that's something to celebrate! Attend the conference, learn what other progress we've made, and learn what we expect to celebrate next year.

and this:

June is False Allegations Awareness Month, and this year's theme is "Hold False-Accusers Accountable." We have put together a list of activities to help you educate others on false allegations of abuse. First, educate yourself with our hand-out "False Allegations by the Numbers." Then ask your local newspaper or radio station to cover the issue.

False allegations resource page.

Don't forget to post on our Facebook page for Falsely Accused, to let us know what activities you've done.

The lobbyists? That's us. Let's tell them our disgust toward VAWA and that it is either made male friendly or scrapped altogether. S.47 is going to be voted on this week so let them know ASAP.

VAWA vote today at 5pm est

From SAVE Services:

SAVE has just issued a report showing many of the programs funded under S. 47, the Violence Against Women Act, place victims at risk of continued abuse and even death. Restraining orders, mandatory arrest, and aggressive prosecution policies are all found to be increasing partner violence, according to the research summary.

The report can be viewed here.

For example, VAWA funds the enforcement of restraining orders, but they are widely believed to be ineffective in curbing abuse. A review of homicide-suicides in North Carolina revealed the issuance of a restraining order was the most common trigger for such tragedies, present in 41% of such incidents.

The SAVE report terms the continued taxpayer funding of these harmful policies as "A triumph of ideology over science and common-sense."

Sounds crazy? Call your Senators today 1-866-220-0044. Tell them that S. 47 would be a deadly proposition for many.

Please act now....voting on S. 47 is expected to begin at 5pm ET on Monday!

Let's stop VAWA in the Senate

From SAVE Services:

No Time to Spare, Show your Senators You Care!

Dear (Contact First Name),

The Senate is expected to vote on VAWA today. Let's use these last moments to express our views to our lawmakers:click here

You can also find your senators here.

If we can get VAWA aka S.47 killed in the Senate then we won't have to concern ourselves over it anymore. If it passes and goes to the House then we have to go after it in the House as well. It would be a lot easier to just end it now so send in those emails. The following Senators are also not VAWA friendly: Rand Paul,Mike Lee,Chuck Grassley and Orrin Hatch. Also Senator Mitch McConnell is the ranking Republican member there so it may be a good idea to let him know as well.

Sounds good. It seems that the feminasties are going for it again and we have to stop them. No problem we can do that so let's do it to it. It might also be a good idea to get in touch with Congressmen John Boehner and Eric Cantor and let them know how we feel about this They are the Republican leadership in the House so it's a good idea to let them know as well.

VAWA is back as S.47,defeat S.47

Today we have an urgent request.

As we told you last week, S. 47, a Violence Against Women Act reauthorization bill has been introduced in the Senate. Unfortunately, S. 47 is very similar to last year's VAWA and ignores well-documented problems.

You'd think that with all of the controversy surrounding VAWA, the Senate would afford time for discussion and the possible addition of amendments. But this may not be the case! Word is that it may skip the Judicial Committee and go straight to the floor for a vote!

We believe that these VAWA Reform Principals are vital and urgently needed to create a comprehensive and effective VAWA: click here

Our urgent request: Please call your Senators RIGHT NOW. Tell them, "Say NO to S. 47 and YES to Real VAWA Reform!"

Find your senators here.

Let's show them what we're made of. Use those phones!

Thanks!

Let's thank Cantor for standing up to Biden

The 112th Congress has adjourned without reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

SAVE has consistently advocated for improvements to VAWA. We have worked hard to educate legislators. Among other things, we held several lobbying events throughout the year. We even wrote our own language, the Partner Violence Reduction Act (PVRA) to show that we can serve all victims of domestic violence while reducing waste, fraud and false allegations.

We are happy to report that some of SAVE's key reforms were included in HR 4970, the House version of VAWA. Rest assured, our efforts to achieve VAWA reform will continue in the next session of Congress.

Please call House Leader Eric Cantor today, and thank him for his principled and courageous support of VAWA reform. Call: (202) 225-2815

Looking forward to 2013,

Tell Congressman Cantor to insist upon presumption of innocence in VAWA

From SAVE Services:

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which is being discussed by House Leader Cantor and VP Biden could include this proposed definition: "sexual assault means any nonconsensual sexual act proscribed by Federal, tribal or State law, including when the victim lacks the capacity to consent."

Due to changes in state laws, innocent men have been convicted of sexual assault and imprisoned, even though there was no DNA, no witnesses, and no forensic evidence. Learn more here: click here

Do we really want VAWA to shift the burden of proof to the defendant? No law should remove the presumption of innocence.

Call House Leader Eric Cantor right now! (202) 225-2815 Tell him to restore the Presumption of Innocence in VAWA!

Thank you for your attention to this matter,

Let's tell Cantor to back us on this one. You can email him as well and let him know to uphold the presumption of innocence in VAWA. Too many falsely accused men have gone to prison as it is. Let's let him know about David Bedoya's situation. About Vladek Filler and his ordeal. The more of us that let Cantor we're serious about this the better. There are facebook forums that deal with false accusations of domestic violence:here, here and here. Let him know about those at well. Also tell him to free David Bedoya. Email today.

Join with the NCFM to oppose VAWA

From the National Coalition For Men:

The “War on Women” essentially is a power and control grab and guilt trip diversion by the National Organization of Women (NOW) cartel. No one is waging war on women. However, it is impossible to rationally conclude that political forces are not waging “War on Men.”

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) is center stage to the War Against Men. NCFM Advisor Phil Cook and I over a decade ago discussed what I call the Women Industry Wheel (WIW), though it might be more aptly called the Women Industry War Wagon Wheel (WIWWW).

Phil thought VAWA was the hub of the wheel while I still think VAWA is the grease that keeps it turning. The hub, in my opinion, is radical feminism’s “politically correct” influence and resulting control of our educational system, especially in higher education. Looking at things rationally, Women Studies, female oriented graduate schools, misuse of Title IX, and so forth, though such influences are broader and more debilitating mechanisms of social control and cultural revision.

Every American and millions of others around the world have been impacted by VAWA directly or indirectly. If you think not, then take a few minutes to think about that which you take for granted regarding relationship violence, that which you have been taught to believe as true. Think about it in the context of those you care about, know, or have heard about, who have been involved in a situation involving family violence. It is precisely that reason – every American and more being impacted – that pressures applied by a group of independent men, women, and family organizations finally were able to apply the brakes to slow VAWA down long enough to check the grease.

For the first time in the history the reauthorization of VAWA is stalled in Congress.

As I type, Congress is in the final throes of the current session and headed for holiday recess. Washington wants to go home. It’s rumored that secret negotiations are taking place; specifically it is rumored that Vice-President Biden – father of VAWA – is putting the bum’s rush on House members to pass the reauthorization before the recess. Hence the letter above to Congress.

Hopefully the letter will remind our all Senators and Representatives that everyone bleeds, everyone needs services, and everyone needs protection from violence, even violence committed by women.

There is no more absurd legislation than VAWA. As Dr. Finley says in the letter above;

“…the ideological foundations of VAWA discriminate against men. Conceptually, VAWA is based on the Duluth Power and Control Wheel model, which falsely presumes that all domestic violence is perpetrated by evil patriarchal males against virtuously innocent females. There is no research support for this false gender ideology.”

If you took the time as I suggested above to think about what you think you know about VAWA and relationship violence, including those you know or may know of who have been impacted by it, know this too… The Duluth Power and Control Wheel and associated programs condemn the use of guilt, power, and control. Exactly the same concepts used today by NOW and their cartel to continue to wage their war on men. The identical power and control tactics are used by VAWA supporters to bully Senators and Representatives into compliance.

Such bullying mocks claims of evil patriarchal males and virtuous innocent females, but yields insight into the darker power and control psyches of radical feminism. They have to keep the wheels of the War on Men wagon freshly greased at any and all costs.

VAWA is a farce of incredibly dangerous proportions in its present form. Let us hope that our elected officials are not bullied into reauthorizing VAWA this session, especially if it continues to discriminate against half our population. Better to wait until the next session when more considered and well reasoned negotiations might result in a non discriminatory version of VAWA, a version that protects all of us.

Please call your elected officials and demand it.

It could happen.

President

How many gallons of men's blood is the matriarchal queen going to gorge before she has had "enough"? That is why it is up to us men to not just say "enough" but to actually mean it.

Free David Bedoya VAWA victim

Imagine this: you think you've met the woman of your dreams but in reality you've met and married the banshee from hell. A woman you thought was truthful to you and loyal to you is a lying bigamist. Worse yet she throws you to the wolves aka the U.S. injustice system on a VAWA charge to get you incarcerated. Imagine that. Meet David Bedoya,he doesn't imagine it he LIVES it everyday he's been incarcerated. There are thousands of David Bedoyas out there, incarcerated men, incarcerated men who are only guilty of picking the wrong woman. Instead of giving them counseling as free men the government incarcerates them. Apparently to our government and society a foreign woman who has connived the system, which is a criminal act is more valuable than an honest man who contributed to the system. Since this is VAWA related the best plan is to get in contact with our elected officials, both houses, here and let them know about how men are victimized by VAWA. Also get in contact with the John Boehner,Speaker Of the House,Eric Cantor,House Majority Leader and Mitch McConnell,Senate Republican Leader and let them know as well. I've heard that Senator Chuck Grassley,Senator Jerry Moran,Senator Rand Paul and Senator Mike Johanns may be sympathetic to the men's rights movement so it would probably be a good idea to let them know as well. We let these people know that there are human male victims of VAWA and their situation has to be remedied and the female criminals who put them there need to be brought to justice.

Someone suggested emailing Mitt Romney as well so here is his email address: mitt@mittforpresident.com Let's do this.

Feminists embezzle VAWA money

Department of Justice

Office of Public Affairs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEWednesday, March 28, 2012

Former Grant Administrator and Legal Assistant of American Samoa Non-profit Legal Aid Corporation Sentenced for Stealing Nearly $160,000 in Federal Grant Funds Funds Intended to Benefit Low-Income Victims of Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse

WASHINGTON – Julie Matau, 49, and her daughter, Andrea Matau, 28, each were sentenced yesterday in Oakland, Calif., for their participation in the theft of nearly $160,000 in federal grant funds from a now-defunct nonprofit American Samoa legal services corporation, announced Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division.

U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken for the Northern District of California sentenced Julie Matau to 12 months and one day in prison. Julie Matau also was ordered to serve three years of supervised release, including eight hours a week of community service throughout the three-year term. Judge Wilken sentenced Andrea Matau to serve 12 months of probation, including six months of home detention. Andrea Matau also was ordered to provide eight hours a week of community service for the entire 12 months of probation. Judge Wilken ordered Julie and Andrea Matau to pay $159,763 in restitution, to be paid jointly and severally. In addition, Judge Wilken ordered that $31,292 of the $159,763 be paid jointly and severally with David Wagner, another individual who has pleaded guilty for his role in the scheme, if he is ordered to pay restitution in that amount. Wagner’s sentencing is scheduled for April 2, 2012, in St. Louis before U.S. District Judge Carol E. Jackson for the Eastern District of Missouri.

On Dec. 21, 2011, Julie Matau pleaded guilty to wire fraud and Andrea Matau pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft of federal funds. A federal grand jury in the Northern District of California returned an indictment against Julie and Andrea Matau on Dec. 16, 2010. Wagner pleaded guilty on March 11, 2010, in the Eastern District of Missouri for his role in the theft of federal funds.

The case arose from allegations of theft and fraud at a now-defunct nonprofit legal services corporation in American Samoa called the U’una’i Legal Services Corporation (ULSC). According to court documents, between 1998 and 2007, ULSC was the only nonprofit organization in American Samoa that was dedicated to providing free legal services to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and sexual abuse.

Between August 2005 and September 2007, ULSC received more than $1.2 million in federal grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Violence Against Women and the Legal Services Corporation.

According to court documents, between May 2005 and September 2007, Wagner served as ULSC’s acting executive director and Julie Matau served as ULSC’s office manager and grant administrator. Julie Matau, together with Wagner, was responsible for submitting applications for federal grant funding, managing ULSC’s federal funds and issuing employee payroll checks. Wagner and Julie Matau exercised joint signatory authority over ULSC’s bank accounts. Andrea Matau worked as one of ULSC’s legal assistants and reported directly to Julie Matau.

According to court documents, between September 2005 and September 2007, Julie Matau and Wagner arranged for themselves, Andrea Matau, and Julie and Andrea Matau’s relatives to receive unlawful payments from the federal grant funds. According to court documents, Julie Matau unlawfully received $65,649 in federal grant funds; Andrea Matau unlawfully received $24,634 in federal grant funds; Wagner unlawfully received $31,292 in federal grant funds; and the Mataus’ relatives received $38,188 in federal grant funds.

In her guilty plea, Julie Matau admitted that she knew that they had no legal entitlement to receive these federal grant funds and that their receipt of the federal funds violated the terms and conditions of the grants. Julie Matau also admitted that she had no intention of repaying the money to ULSC or the federal government, or of requiring others to repay the money. In her guilty plea, Andrea Matau admitted that she participated in the theft by personally receiving $24,634 in unlawful payments and by permitting Julie Matau to deposit additional unlawful payments in Andrea Matau’s personal bank account and in their joint bank account.

In his guilty plea, Wagner admitted that, with Julie Matau’s assistance, he received a number of unlawful “salary advances.” Wagner also admitted that he signed blank ULSC checks for Julie Matau’s use in exchange for the unlawful payments that she provided to him.

The case is being prosecuted by Trial Attorneys Edward J. Loya Jr. and Monique T. Abrishami of the Criminal Division’s Public Integrity Section. Senior Trial Attorney Mary K. Butler and Trial Attorney Maria N. Lerner, also of the Public Integrity Section, participated in the investigation of this matter. The case is being investigated by special agents of the Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General and the Legal Services Corporation’s Office of Inspector General, with assistance from special agents of the FBI-Honolulu Division, American Samoa Resident Agency.

Biden is a lying: let's set him straight

From SAVE:

Vice President Joe Biden has disappointed abuse victims once again. On Tuesday, Biden issued a statement on domestic violence: here. With yet another opportunity to tell the truth about DV, he again only addressed one aspect: women abused by men.

Biden failed to mention intimate partner violence in the LGBT community, and he ignored women's violence towards men. According to Martin Fiebert, PhD of California State University, 286 research studies conducted over the last 30 years show "women are as physically aggressive, or more aggressive, than men in their relationships with their spouses or male partners." click here

Scanning the news, it's easy to see that women commit DV. On Monday, Terry Dear, OH, was shot in the back by his wife in front of their two small children. Derrick Graham, VA, was hit and drug along a highway by his wife driving an SUV last week.

You may remember when Whoopi Goldberg asked Biden about violent women on The View (thanks to your calls and emails!). He threw his hands up as if dumbfounded, pounded his fist into his hand while ordering men to never hit women, then claimed that every person in prison saw their mother abused by their father. Video: here

The time has come for our Vice President to stand up for ALL victims of domestic violence. And, it's time for him to acknowledge that women can be, and often are just as violent as men.

Contact Lynn Rosenthal, the White House Advisor on Violence Against Women, and tell her that we demand that VP Biden tell the truth...the entire truth. You can write to Rosenthal at lrosenthal@who.eop.gov.

Telling the truth is something we were all taught as children. Let's remind Biden. And maybe we'll save a life while we're at it.

HR 4970 cleared the House

From SAVE:

House Approves Violence Against Women Act: SAVE Applauds Long-Overdue Reform Measures

WASHINGTON / May 17, 2012 - The House of Representatives has passed the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act by a 222-205 margin. Responding to public discontent, H.R. 4970 contains a number of measures designed to curb widespread waste and fraud in the domestic violence field.

A recent U.S. News poll found a strong majority of persons are opposed to the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) in its current form: here. Many women have questioned the effectiveness and fairness of the existing VAWA law:here

Reforms contained H.R. 4970 include strong accountability measures, gender-inclusive language, and provisions to stem fraudulent claims of abuse by immigrants. The current VAWA law has invited immigration fraud by not allowing the US citizen accused of abuse to submit evidence that could refute the accusation.

The White House played an active role in opposing the bill. The Obama Administration issued a Statement of Administration Policy on Tuesday stating it would veto any bill that was modeled on H.R. 4970.

During Wednesday's floor debate, sponsor Sandy Adams (R-FL) withstood numerous challenges. When informed by John Conyers (D-MI) that numerous organizations opposed her bill, she retorted, "Shame on them!"

Following passage of the bill, a number of established domestic violence organizations have reacted with anger and implied threats. The National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence Against Women called the bill "dangerous." The National Organization for Women charged that Representatives who voted for the bill "will be judged in the public arena and at the polls in November."

According to SAVE spokesman Philip W. Cook, "H.R. 4970 certainly is not a perfect bill. Still, passage of the House measure is a victory for victims who have been refused service in the past. It removes most sex discriminatory language. It is also a victory for taxpayers who are tired of the ongoing reports of waste and fraud."

SAVE thanks the many organizations and individuals who have supported VAWA reform efforts. SAVE will continue to work for ways to reform and strengthen the Violence Against Women Act:here.

Stop Abusive and Violent Environments is a victim-advocacy organization working for evidence-based solutions to partner abuse:
www.saveservices.org

Let's give ourselves a pat on the back and a high five. We did it. We stood up to big feminism and won. There is one thing I want to touch on:

Following passage of the bill, a number of established domestic violence organizations have reacted with anger and implied threats. The National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence Against Women called the bill "dangerous." The National Organization for Women charged that Representatives who voted for the bill "will be judged in the public arena and at the polls in November."

So will we. We men are going to remember who was on our side and who our enemies were. We will reward our friends by re-electing them and we will punish our enemies by sending them back to the private sector. That also includes a President who threatens to veto HR 4970. Count on it.

Let's tell Congress about HR 4970

From SAVE:

Like I told you last week, in politics, some people will say anything to win. I know this, but I'm still floored by all of the misinformation being published about HR4970. Maybe they are blindly believing members of the domestic violence industry.

Recent fundraising emails from major VAWA-funded organizations are the worst offenders. Even though the GAO and the DOJ found misuse of funds and fraud, these organizations are fighting against accountability. And they're doing this by misrepresenting how HR4970 will affect the LGBT community.

What they don't say, is that HR4970 is the only VAWA that removes all discrimination, the only VAWA that allows service providers to open shelters for men who are abused (40% of all injured victims!). If we, as a society, are going to claim to want to help every victim, shouldn't that include heterosexual men?

Let's not let them get away with this smoke and mirrors trick.

So, whether you want abused men to have services, or whether you want your tax dollars spent correctly, please contact your Representative and ask them to vote YES on HR4970.

Please call the Capitol Hill Switchboard: 202.224.3121. Tell the operator your zip code and ask to be connected to your Representative's office. Or find their phone number here.

Tell your Representative to vote YES on HR 4970.
