Tell Sen. Patty Murray: 'Due process IS America'

Tomorrow morning, the Senate HELP Committee will hold a hearing on "Addressing Campus Sexual Assault and Ensuring Student Safety and Rights."
In the past, Sen. Patty Murray, who is the highest ranking Democrat on the Committee, has often pushed the "one in five" fake statistic in order to justify the existence of the campus Kangaroo Courts.
Somehow, Murray has forgotten that all Americans, including college students, are guaranteed due process by the Constitution.
So please telephone Murray's office at (202) 224-2621. Tell her, "Due process IS America!"

Betsy DeVos' meetings with 'men's rights' groups over campus sex assault policies spark controversy
Following a series of meetings Thursday in Washington examining Title IX sexual assault procedures on college campuses, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is reexamining guidance to schools.
In addition to survivors' groups and educational institutions, DeVos met with "men's rights" organizations, including the National Coalition for Men (NCFM), as well as groups that speak out on behalf of the accused, including Families Advocating for Campus Equality (FACE) and Stop Abusive and Violent Environments (SAVE).
Though the secretary refused to say whether the administration wants to amend directives to colleges and universities, survivors' advocates worry that DeVos' engagement with these controversial groups -- which opponents have dubbed insensitive to victims -- signals a possible willingness to shift the process to the advantage of alleged perpetrators by rolling back Obama-era guidance directing schools to use a "preponderance of the evidence" standard of proof, rather than the higher "clear and convincing" standard, during Title IX sexual assault violence investigations.
"She's meeting with groups and individuals today who believe that sexual assault is some sort of feminist plot to hurt men," said Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, who joined other like-minded individuals gathered outside the Department clamoring to keep the focus on survivors.
Natalie Green, online communications coordinator with women's right group UltraViolet, tells ABC News, "In all honesty, we think she should be listening to the survivors first and foremost, not rape apologists."
And Annie Clark, executive director and co-founder of End Rape on Campus, said, "The evidentiary standard in the criminal justice system is higher, and should be, than on campus because the penalties are different."
Asked about the aforementioned concerns, DeVos told reporters at the Department of Education, "today was a time to listen."
"No student should be the victim of sexual assault," DeVos said. "No student should feel unsafe ... and no students should feel like the scales are tipped against him or her."
According to NCFM, FACE and SAVE, who all fight what they claim are false accusations, accused rapists should be afforded stronger due process by schools investigating allegations of sexual violence. Though difficult to measure, researchers from Northeastern University and the University of Massachusetts reported that their findings -- published in the Journal of Violence Against Women -- in conjunction with other studies, "indicate that the prevalence of false allegations is between 2 percent and 10 percent."
The false accusation rate for rape is 60%. The reasons given for this false accusation rate: spite,revenge,even boredom. These are the cases where the accuser deliberately lied. This is from a U.S. Air Force study by Dr. Charles McDowwell. From the book The Myth Of Male Power by Warren Farrell.
"It was clear that their stories are not often told, and there are lives that have been ruined and lives that have been lost in the process," DeVos said of these groups representing people they believe were wrongfully accused.
Jonathon Andrews -- a 23-year-old SAVE and FACE volunteer who says he was falsely accused of rape by "homophobic fraternity brothers" after he himself was sexually assaulted -- says the groups just want to ensure all involved get a fair shake.
"Victims for a long time weren't taken seriously, and President Obama tried to correct that -- but some of us think that he over-corrected, to the point where those who haven't committed any crimes, like myself, are at a risk of losing their futures, losing their lives, and being destroyed, essentially," Andrews told ABC News, bristling at "insulting" critiques of his organization as rape-apologist.
"A system without due process protections ultimately serves no one in the end," DeVos said Thursday during a press conference at the Department of Education. "There are substantive legal questions to be addressed, including the evidentiary standard, due process, and lack of public input."
Her meetings come as the Education Department's civil rights chief, Candice Jackson, was forced to apologize for a controversial comment made to the New York Times in article published Wednesday.
The majority of sexual assault allegations -- "90 percent," according to Jackson -- "fall into the category of 'we were both drunk, we broke up, and six months later I found myself under a Title IX investigation because she just decided that our last sleeping together was not quite right," she told the Times.
She's right. A lot of times that is what these things are. I'm glad someone is seeing the truth and talking about it.
"As a survivor of rape myself, I would never seek to diminish anyone's experience," Jackson clarified in a statement provided to ABC News. "My words in the New York Times poorly characterized the conversations I've had with countless groups of advocates. What I said was flippant, and I am sorry. All sexual harassment and sexual assault must be taken seriously."
DeVos on Thursday declined to answer questions about whether she agreed with Jackson's 90 percent comment.

DOE helps out men
Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos is using her office to legitimize a misogynist organization that has dedicated itself to defending rapists, attacking female victims of sexual assault, and promoting the conspiracy theory that domestic violence is exaggerated.
Betsy DeVos, Donald Trump’s secretary of education, is scheduled to meet with a group that has made a name for itself by casting doubt on rape cases, questioning the existence of domestic violence, and promoting conspiracy theories about women.
DeVos is meeting with several groups that have been critical of the Title IX guidance on campus rape. Those policies were put in place by the Obama administration to protect woman on college campuses from sexual assault.
Among those meeting with DeVos is the National Coalition for Men. The group is part of the so-called “men’s rights” movement, which exists to promote misogynist ideas and to continually push back on the fight for women’s equality.
The website for the group’s North Carolina chapter offers legal guidance to accused rapists and publishes photographs of women the group claims have falsely accused men of rape. The technique serves as an intimidation tactic toward victims: If you speak up, you will be exposed and attacked.
Daily Tarheel columnist Alice Wilder noted that the group has “a clear animosity toward feminists and anyone who advocates for an end to gender-based violence.”
The National Coalition for Men has been behind tons of nuisance lawsuits alleging sex discrimination toward men, including one that said events attempting to bring more women into the technology industry were “anti-male.”
Attorney Al Rava, who filed the lawsuit and serves as the group’s press secretary, told a reporter working on the story he would not talk to her, saying, “I do not trust you will quote me correctly or in the proper context given your leftwing, pro-female, anti-male bias.”
Harry Crouch, president of National Coalition for Men, defended NFL player Ray Rice after surveillance video captured him dragging his then-fiancée after allegedly knocking her out in an elevator. Crouch said, “If she hadn’t aggravated him, she wouldn’t have been hit.”
In the same conversation, he complained about the NFL’s annual breast cancer awareness campaign.
“Football is always happy to put on pink suits to celebrate women,” he said. “Why can’t they have a week, or just one day, where they celebrate men?”
National Coalition for Men even sued Trump National Golf Course in 2011 for promoting breast cancer awareness, arguing that to do so was discriminatory towards men.
The group also whined that the movie “Sully” discriminated against men, because it did not depict women and children exiting the crashed airplane first, as part of a feminist plot.
Crouch told the L.A. Times that men are “disadvantaged in almost every way.”
DeVos is also meeting with SAVE — Stop Abusive and Violent Environments — which has also sided with domestic abusers. SAVE pushed for lawyers to have the power to ask domestic violence victims “detailed, often intrusive questions about the accuser’s prior sexual history.”
DeVos’ nomination was among the most contentious of Trump’s cabinet selections, largely thanks to her demonstrated ignorance of important education issues. Since squeezing by into office, those concerns have been validated by her open hostility toward LGBTQ students, her support for budget cuts helping disabled students, and now, this sad decision to grant misogynists the official blessing of the federal government.

Drain the swamp at the DOE Office for Civil Rights

Since the release of the infamous Dear Colleague Letter in 2011, the federal government, through the Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR), has eliminated procedural protections. Through their guidance letters, OCR has made the campus disciplinary process unreliable, thereby undermining the seriousness of sexual assault allegations on our college campuses.
Now, with a new Secretary of Education, we have a chance to drain the swamp at the OCR and restore due process and fairness to campus procedures. This week, we are asking you to reach out to Secretary DeVos and urge her to make meaningful changes at the OCR. Some suggested requests:
Allow students to have active attorneys during their hearings;
Use justice centered investigations;
Raise the standard of proof to "clear and convincing"

Tell your college alma mater and/or elected officials about victim centered investigations on college and university campuses

A new trend called "victim-centered investigations" is troubling us at SAVE.
The gist of the new investigatory approach is to start from believing the complainant and to continue the investigation from the complainant's perspective--thus ending the police's role as neutral fact-finder.
Colleges are starting to look into using this technique, and we need stop it.
We are asking you to contact the university or college where you attended school, and ask them to continue implementing fair investigative procedures.
Tell them to preserve the presumption of innocence on their campus.
If you didn't attend college or do not want to contact your alma mater then contact your elected officials. Congressional Representative:click here and Senators: click here. You can also contact Senator James Lankford and Senator Lamar Alexander. Neither of the aforementioned Senators are big fans of what the Obama administration is doing to college and university men so contacting them would be a plus. On Lankford's website click on "send an email on legislation" to send him an email.

It is now football season, but we're the 'red zone' we're talking about doesn't have to deal with an end zone.
Instead, the time between when schools start up and Thanksgiving is known as the 'red zone' because that is when the most campus sexual assaults are reported.
Help us combat campus sexual assault by telling Senator Lamar Alexander to pass our new federal bill, which will help get safety and medical authorities involved with campus sexual assault cases ASAP. A copy of our bill, called the Campus Equality, Fairness, and Transparency Act, can be found here.

Protect the rights of the accused with the Campus Equality, Fairness, and Transparency Act

September is National Campus Safety Awareness Month.
In recognition, Clery Center is asking you to create campus safety tweets using the hashtag #NCSAMTop5 and tag @Clery Center.
We urge you to tweet this upcoming month about the relationship between binge drinking and campus sexual assault. While addressing binge drinking is a commonsense solution to decreasing campus sexual assault, sadly not a single current federal campus sexual assault bill addresses this correlation.
This is in part while we created our own model bill, the Campus Equality, Fairness, and Transparency Act. The model bill includes provisions for drug and alcohol policies on campus.

Georgia lawmaker stands up for due process for accused students

We have a victory! Georgia state representative Earl Ehrhart, Chair of the Georgia Appropriations Committee, held a hearing on Monday about due process on college campuses.
During the hearing, he grilled college administrators on why they don't provide due process to students, threatening that the schools will not get funding if they don't immediately start providing fundamental due process protections:see video

We have a victory! Georgia state representative Earl Ehrhart, Chair of the Georgia Appropriations Committee, held a hearing on Monday about due process on college campuses.
During the hearing, he grilled college administrators on why they don't provide due process to students, threatening that the schools will not get funding if they don't immediately start providing fundamental due process protections:see video

Protest against affirmative consent

Once upon a time, California students could choose how to give consent to private sexual activity. Nowadays, the state has mandated affirmative consent, which means an accused student must show something like a sexual consent contract or video to prove consent existed.
But now, the University of California has stated that students may not videotape sexual activity without possible consent, which means that students are not able to prove that consent did occur:Click here. This new policy is making it impossible to defend oneself against a sexual assault accusation.
Contact University of California President Janet Napolitano: president@ucop.edu and tell her that the school's new policy is dangerous for every student.
Let's not wait until innocent students are found guilty under it.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch ignores male victims of domestic violence

For Domestic Violence Awareness Month, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch delivered remarks about domestic violence at a Justice Department event.
As one can see from the transcript, here. AG Lynch repeatedly refers to female victims, but doesn't mention male victims once.
We at SAVE know that male domestic violence victims do exist, and it's important that our national leaders take time to acknowledge them so that they receive critical resources and attention.

Tell Congressman Jared Polis to use correct stats in "he said/she said" cases

Thank you for telling U.S. Representative Jared Polis on Monday that it's wrong to expel innocence students.
As you may recall, Rep. Polis stated that a student should be expelled if there is only a 20% chance he is guilty.
He has since apologized! click here
In his apology, however, he states that 1 in 5 female students in the class of 2019 will be assaulted or raped. Perhaps Polis likes the number "20%," but we know this number has been debunked: click here
We want you to contact Rep. Polis again and tell him that he needs to look at facts before advocating for sexual assault policy changes. To do otherwise is dangerous and unprofessional.

Tell Congressman Polis to apologize for his misandric remarks
Speaking of Congressman Jared Polis-D-Colorado. SAVE Services is taking him to task for his comments:
U.S. Rep. Jared Polis is 100% wrong. In a House hearing on campus sexual assault last week, Polis stated that a student should be expelled if there is a 20% chance he is guilty. Polis also stated that the standard used should be lower than "preponderance of the evidence."
Polis added, "If there are 10 people who have been accused, and under a reasonable likelihood standard maybe one or two did it, it seems better to get rid of all 10 people."
Tell Rep. Polis (CO-2) that expelling innocent students is unacceptable advice, and wrongful accusations are damaging. Our representatives should instead be advocating for more due process in the campus kangaroo courts.

Tell the Univeristy of Minnesota to abandon anti-male draconian practice

The University of Minnesota President, Eric Kaler, is attempting to enact an affirmative consent policy at the school. Members of the University's Board of Regents asked him to hold off until they could review such a serious change at their next meeting. Now, the President is getting pressured into enacting the policy by media, even though affirmative consent would result in draconian and overbroad definitions of sexual assault crimes. Such definitions would require the school to call innocent students 'criminals'.Please contact President Kaler now and tell him to NOT pass an affirmative consent policy, and to instead stick with state definitions of crimes.

This is a good sign. They are proceeding with caution. 15-20 years ago they would be enthusiastic about a pro-feminist policy change. Hell they would be shouting it on top of roofs so that everyone could hear that they take women's complaints seriously and they didn't care if the complaints were genuine or not they just went with them. Gushing all over themselves about how sensitive they are to women's concerns. Today that is not the case. Today they are proceeding with caution and rightfully so. We are no longer sitting back and taking it. We are no longer sitting on the sidelines wondering when the misandry would end because as long as we did nothing nothing would change. We finally got fed up and decided to push back and that is when things got turned around. Men's Rights Activism works don't let anyone tell you it doesn't.

Jeb Bush ignores male domestic violence victims

Yesterday, Jeb Bush announced his campaign for presidency. In his official campaign video, however, the statement is made that "one out of four women will be victimized by claims to love them."
Later in the video, a Florida resident explains how "he wanted women to not live the way [she] found [herself]."
This reckless use of statistics and a focus only on female domestic violence victims is disappointing. Email Jeb Bush at jeb@jeb.org to let him know that domestic violence happens to all genders.
We want any presidential candidate to take domestic violence seriously when it happens to anyone.

Tell Senator Kirstan Gillibrand to apologize for her misandric actions

Senator Gillibrand is in the news again. This time, when asked about rape hoaxes, she responded that the real focus should be on the problem of rape. Her ideal case, however, is Columbia student Emma Sulkowicz, who has never been found to be raped or sexually assaulted.
In fact, in this case she's spotlighting, the accused student is suing Columbia University for false allegations. It's clear that the Senator needs to look at cases objectively, but instead she is decrying the case as yet another example of 'rape culture'.

I tried calling her office twice and got a busy signal so if you can't get through on the phone then send her an email. If the phone line is busy that means that other MRA's are telling her off too which is a good thing. The main thing is that we stand up to misandry and tell our elected leaders we are not going to accept it and and that we will stand up to misandry by drawing a line in the sand and saying no more. We will no longer accept it.
